“A commitment to engage, empower, and honor the communities we exist in.” In 2020, designers Marta Marques and Paolo Almeida wrote this pledge into their environmental and social responsibility manifesto, and last night they proved it wasn’t just words. Live-streamed from a derelict industrial building in Porto, Portugal, their show was a colorful production staged in a collective act of pride with the creative young people, artists, and designers that I've and work around the Campanha district on the east side of their home city.
