Marques ‘ Almeida was created in 2011 by Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida who subscribe to the Helmut Lang school of thought where “fashion is about attitude not hemlines.” While their aesthetic evokes raw effortlessness, the pair’s technical sensibilities are revealed in the construction of each piece.
Marta and Paulo took the natural course of combining talents while on the MA at Central Saint Martins in London - hitting the mark between impulse and consideration.
They launched MARQUES ‘ ALMEIDA in April 2011 and showed their first two seasons under Lulu Kennedy’s platform - Fashion East, followed by being awarded NEWGEN sponsorship from the British Fashion Council/Topshop and showing for the following seasons at London Fashion Week where they took their first steps.
In May 2015 MARQUES ‘ ALMEIDA were award the LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers and a British Fashion Award for Best Emerging Designer and grew exponentially, stocked in over 100 locations worldwide and always supported by their loyal community.
After collections shown officially at Paris Fashion Week, the launch of the M’A KIDS line and several other collaborations, in 2020 M’A turned their attentions to their sustainable journey. Launching the “M’A SUSTAINABILITY AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY MANIFESTO” and their “reM’Ade by Marques ‘ Almeida” line they kept focused in empowering the communities around them through projects like “See-Through” and “M’AKERS”.

M’A DESIGNS M’A PRODUCT
M’A was created responding to a growing market for day to day high-end ready to wear that’s cool, raw, relevant and effortless. It came from the understanding that there was a shift happening in the definition of high luxury, especially for a younger consumer, and it immediately became a brand that constantly delivers designs that feel accessible while completely innovative and one of a kind.
Having crafted their skills through a completely innovative use of denim, they expanded the same raw effortlessness through a wide range of fabrications from silks, cottons, merino knitwear, shirtings and brocades - delivering quietly defiant designs crafted with extreme care and sustainable practices.
